Tour de Essex - 7K Trail Run
9 AM - Saturday, October 23, 2021
Essex Park, Rochester, MN
Runners arrived at Essex Park on Saturday, October 23, 2021 ready to tackle the 7.42K (4.61 mile) Tour de Essex Trail run. Even though it was a frosty 32 degrees at race start, the runners knew they would quickly warm up on the undulating hills of the Essex Park trails. Bright sunshine took the edge off the chilly morning. The lingering frost required runners to take some care as they descended the numerous hills.
The top three runners finished under a 7:00 min/mile pace with Noah Billings finishing first n a 6:45 pace. Drew Wilson followed Noah with a 6:56 pace and Noah Johnson was close behind in 6:57. Noah Billings was also the champion in 2019 (no race held in 2020 due to COVID) and knocked off almost 6 minutes from his previous time!
Lori Russell was the first woman across in a 7:21 pace which is the 2nd fastest female time in Tour de Essex race history. Branda Anderson was the next woman with a 8:21 pace and Angie Murad the third finisher in 8:41.
Several runners set age-group best mile pace times -
Male 19 and under 6:45 Noah Billings
Male 60 - 69 8:39 Tom Woo
Female 40 - 49 8:21 Branda Anderson
Female 60 - 69 9:22 Gwen Jacobson
Female 70 - 79 13:32 Lin Gentling
Female 80 and over 13:43 Sandra Dalquist
Congratulations to all of the runners who came out and endured the challenging hills of the Tour de Essex!
