RNST Ski Races 2021-2022
Wisconsin High School State Championships - Cable, WI - Sat - Sun, February 12-13, 2022
The Rochester Nordic Ski Team participated in the Wisconsin High School State Championships at the Birkie Trailhead on February 12-13, 2022. The first day featured a 6.5 km classic race for high schoolers and a 3.1 km course for middle schoolers. Skiers used the same courses on the second day for a freestyle race. Racers participating on both days were ranked on a combined classic/freestyle (pursuit) time. Temperatures which barely rose above 0 degrees provided a firm course expertly groomed by the Birkie crew.
Four RNST skiers participated in both the classic and freestyle races and earned a ranking in the pursuit format. Natasha Sortland was 4th overall among high school girls. Other skiers participating in the pursuit races were Kai Andersen, Katrina Sortland, and Matthew Van Camp. These skiers were joined by another 12 RNST team members for the freestyle races on Sunday.
Essex Park Team Time Trial - Tuesday, February 8, 2022
A team time trial was held at Essex Park on a comfortable day with temps in the high 30s. The warm temps made for slower snow conditions but an enjoyable day to be out racing, spectating, and hanging out with the ski team. The 5.5 km long course was enjoyed by 47 skiers with an additional 30 skiers skating the short course of 1.5 km.
Rochester Nordic Ski Invitational - Eastwood Golf Course - Thursday, January 27, 2022
Rochester Nordic Ski Team skiers were joined by fellow winter nordic enthusiasts from Lake City, Red Wing, and Winona for the Rochester Nordic Ski Invitational. The 140 skiers enjoyed temps in the mid 20s with nice snow conditions on the golf course. The skiers rambled over a rolling 5.5K course with a short course option of 2.0K for beginning skiers.

Chippewa Valley Nordic Invite - Tower Ridge, Eau Claire, WI - Tuesday, January 18, 2022
Congratulations to the 18 RNST skiers who competed Jan. 18th in the Chippewa Valley Nordic Invite at Tower Ridge trails in Eau Claire. The evening races were held under the lights! Top RNST finishers were Sarah Baum and Noah Billings in the 5 km race, and Kai Andersen and Jack Reynolds in the MS/Development 2.5 km race.
